BUSINESS FUNDING · READINESS & SOURCE INTELLIGENCE

Funding starts with understanding what the business is ready to pursue.

NEBC does not promise funding. It helps business owners organize the information that matters, identify controlled funding sources that deserve further review, understand what still needs confirmation, and determine the next action before approaching a lender or investment source.

THE FUNDING PROBLEM

A list of lenders is not the same as funding guidance.

Businesses often encounter broad directories, advertisements, or generic funding lists without a clear explanation of whether the source is relevant to the business, what information the source may require, or what the owner should verify next.

NEBC begins with a funding profile and uses controlled source information to support a more disciplined review.

CURRENT CONTROLLED CHANNELS

Funding sources currently supported by the NEBC Funding Opportunity Center.

DEBT / MICROFINANCE

SBA Microloan Sources

NEBC compares the business funding profile with controlled SBA Microloan intermediary records and identifies relevant lending sources for further qualification.

The business must still confirm geography, use of proceeds, underwriting requirements, current program availability, and lender-specific conditions directly with the source.

GROWTH CAPITAL

SBA-Licensed SBIC Sources

NEBC compares growth-capital needs with controlled SBA-licensed Small Business Investment Company records and identifies investment sources that warrant further fit review.

The business must still confirm investment thesis, industry preference, company stage, transaction size, geography, and all source-specific requirements.

HOW THE SERVICE WORKS

From funding need to a more informed next step.

01 · PROFILE

Describe the Need

Business state, amount sought, intended use, revenue, employee count, capital preference, and timing establish the funding-specific profile.

02 · SCREEN

Review Controlled Sources

NEBC evaluates the available controlled source catalog against the funding profile.

03 · EXPLAIN

Why It Deserves Review

The result identifies fit indicators and the questions or gaps that still need confirmation.

04 · ACT

Verify with the Source

The owner receives a recommended next action and, where available, a source link for direct verification.

FOR BUSINESS OWNERS

Use funding intelligence as preparation for the real conversation.

  • Clarify why capital is needed and how much is being sought.
  • Separate debt financing from investment-capital considerations.
  • Identify sources that appear relevant enough to investigate.
  • Understand what still needs confirmation before treating a source as viable.
  • Prepare to speak with the actual funding provider using better organized business information.
FOR BUSINESS ADVISORS

Add structure without making the funding decision.

Business Development Centers and advisors can use NEBC as a screening and preparation resource while continuing to provide the counseling, financial-readiness support, referrals, and local ecosystem knowledge clients need.

Funding results are screening guidance. A fit indicator is not an approval, offer of credit, investment commitment, eligibility determination, or confirmation that a source serves the business.
